This years wave splurge was Nicaragua. Feeling that Costa Rica has become too good to be true, the search for empty lineups started. While Playa Colorado is not totally empty, it is quiet, blows offshore round the clock for 330 days/year, and has a nice mix of deep reef and fast hollow beak breaks. At the edge of the jungle, monkeys and iguanas, butterflies and pelicans fill the air. The lineup is mellow, a mix of low key locals, visitors, and dodgy expats. It's worth the trip.
