Even the most studious French linguist refuses to speak good English. Good English, as interpreted by an English speaker, who speaks little to no French. It is a unique paradigm.
In the 60’s, Hollywood movie maker Peter Viertel brought surfing to Biarritz, and with it, a healthy dose of American surf culture. Not quite a lesson in English, but not quite French either. This area still seems to be a snapshot of southern California of the 60’s, and has somehow avoided the over commercialism, overbuilding, and pollution that has ruined stretch of coast from LA county to the Mexican border. The food is French, the culture is French, but if you listen closely, American surf lingo has survived…
